Village Bistro: A Delightful Italian Evening in Irene

Hey lovelies! đź’– I recently had the pleasure of dining at Village Bistro in Irene, and let me tell you, it was an experience worth sharing!

Upon arriving, I was immediately captivated by the inviting atmosphere. Fairy lights twinkled outside, surrounded by lush greenery. Banners advertising their famous pizza and pasta were a welcoming sight. We were greeted with warm smiles, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening.

The decor inside was wonderfully old-school Italian, with colourful tablecloths and intricate stone details. Italian café music played softly in the background, enhancing the cozy ambiance. Portraits and vintage decor adorned the walls, and there were even blankets available for those chilly evenings. It truly felt like a little slice of Italy in Irene.

Our server, Rejoice, was an absolute gem! Despite the restaurant being quite busy, she managed everything with grace and efficiency. Her friendly demeanour and radiant smile added to our delightful experience. Rejoice remembered our entire order without jotting it down—talk about impressive! Their slogan, “worth the wait,” held true, even though our wait time was minimal.

The menu at Village Bistro was impressively diverse. While they are renowned for their pizza and pasta, the options didn’t stop there. They offered a variety of mains, including grills, poultry, and an array of sides. Although tempted by the steaks and pasta dishes we saw around us, we had our hearts set on pizza—our favourite date night food.

We started with creamy garlic snails and a focaccia. The snails, bathed in a garlicky white wine sauce, were a perfect starter. The focaccia was soft, fluffy, and perfect for mopping up the remaining sauce.

For our mains, my partner ordered the Bellissima pizza (bacon, feta, avo, and garlic), while I asked Rejoice to surprise me with either the Pollo or the Dolce Vita. She chose the Dolce Vita (chicken, peppadew, feta, and basil pesto), and it was a fantastic choice! The pizzas, baked in an authentic stone oven, were crispy and loaded with delicious toppings. We both ordered large pizzas and ended up taking some slices home—yay for doggy bags!

To complement our meal, we shared a bottle of JC Le Roux La Chanson, our new favorite sparkling wine, kept perfectly chilled in an ice bucket. We also had water on the side to stay hydrated.

The Italian vibes were on point, from the decor to the stone pizza oven—a true game changer! The friendly staff and excellent service made the experience even more enjoyable.

This outing was a date night, and Village Bistro proved to be the perfect spot. We left agreeing that this might be our new go-to date night destination. We can’t wait to return and try their pasta!

I wholeheartedly recommend Village Bistro to anyone who appreciates good food made with love. Whether you’re in the mood for pizza, pasta, or any other dish, you’re in for a treat. The restaurant has ample seating both inside and outside. While it caters more to adults, I’m sure families would enjoy the daytime atmosphere. At night, it’s perfect for a more mature crowd—no playground needed!
